The Story Behind Intentional Smiles
The name “Intentional Smiles” holds a very personal meaning for Dr. Barton. It came about during a deeply introspective period in his life when he and his wife were starting their family. It led him to embrace the concept of “intentionality,” which is how this philosophy became the cornerstone of our practice and patient care.
The story behind the name intentional smiles it came about when I was at a point in my life We were attempting to have our children We have two daughters now and we’re so grateful so blessed for it But at that time when we were struggling through that process trying to make that happen I was just doing some deep introspective work and intentionality came up all the time Just being intentional with every action that I had People will tell you this about me that work with me I never make a decision without a reason Right there’s always a reason for every word that I say everything that comes out It’s there’s an intentionality behind it And I had started living my life that way of just pure intent with whatever I do I want every action to have purpose to have meaning um just nothing shallow in there And so that’s what I’m after is just depth And it was depth of the relationship that I want to build with people And that brought me into intentional smiles And it actually gosh the logo came about on a napkin were sitting there drawing with our friends had a kid um that she was maybe one at the time and we were at their house so we were playing with crayons So I drew up with a crayon at a napkin at a little kid’s table as we’re all sitting there eating dinner together
What Makes This Work So Meaningful
For us, dentistry has never just been about procedures or perfect smiles. It’s about the moments that happen afterward — the handwritten note, the thoughtful text message, the simple “thank you” that reminds us we made a real difference in someone’s life.
Those small gestures mean more than patients probably realize. They represent trust, comfort, confidence, and the feeling that someone truly cared for them throughout their experience.
That’s what continues to drive our team every day. Not just creating healthier smiles, but creating experiences that leave a lasting impact on the people we care for.
Dentistry is about far more than teeth. At its best, it’s about relationships, trust, and truly knowing the people you care for.
For Dr. Barton, the inspiration to become a dentist came from experiencing a different kind of healthcare growing up, one where conversations mattered just as much as treatment. A dentist who knew his family, took time to connect, and made every visit feel personal left a lasting impression.
That experience helped shape the philosophy behind Intentional Smiles today: creating a practice where patients feel heard, valued, comfortable, and genuinely cared for as people not just appointments on a schedule.
Because when dentistry is built on relationships first, the experience feels different.
The Experience That Inspired My Career
More Than Dentistry. A Relationship You Can Count On.
At Intentional Smiles, Dr. Barton believes great dentistry starts with trust, consistency, and truly knowing the person behind the smile. This is not about being “different” for the sake of standing out. It is simply about showing up authentically, listening closely, and caring for patients the same way every single time.
For patients looking for a dental home where they feel known, heard, and supported, this is a place built on relationships, not transactions. From your first visit forward, you can expect honest conversations, personalized care, and a doctor who takes full responsibility for your experience. If something needs attention, Dr. Barton and the team are there to make it right and guide you through it together.
At the end of the day, dentistry is human. Life happens, questions come up, and sometimes things need adjusting along the way. What matters most is having a team beside you that genuinely cares and is committed to helping you every step of the journey.
